I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in the State of
Maryland. As a therapist, I find myself endlessly rewarded by
witnessing my clients' courage and joy as they change and grow.
I began my psychotherapy practice after studies in psychology, literature, philosophy, and mathematics. I had previously worked in publishing, financial markets, and higher education.
How I understand psychotherapy to work— and what I aspire to be as a therapist —is best expressed by Simone Weil:
Those who are
unhappy have no need for anything in this world
but people capable of
giving them their attention. The capacity
to give one’s attention to a
sufferer is a very rare and difficult
thing; it is almost a miracle; it
is a miracle.
I surely cannot perform miracles! But together with my clients I have watched miracles happen.
